Group seeks domestication of Child Rights Law

The Founder and Executive Director of Live Abundantly, Dr. Onyerinma Ama has called for the domestication of the Child Right Law across the country beyond the present 24 states, where it is operational.

Ama disclosed this at a panel of discussion on Equality, Peace and Migration, during the Children’s Awareness Initiative programme, held at Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos.
 
Organised by Live Abundantly, in partnership with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the initiative was aimed at enhancing the lives of children, by way of encouraging social awareness, advocacy and education.

At the event, which was a gathering of school pupils from the Ikorodu axis, with the theme, “Safeguarding Our Children,” the Tutor General/PS Lagos State Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, said children were vulnerable to physical, sexual and emotional violations and exploitation, thus the need for them to be constantly protected.
 
She called on everyone to be involved in safeguarding and protecting kids, thanking Live Abundantly for their efforts at enlightenment.
 
Discussions from the panel also revealed that the IOM has registered more than 600, 000 Nigerians in Libya, 71 per cent of which are women and girls.
 
In his opening remarks, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRH Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, extolled the activities of the organisation, describing it a veritable avenue for creating awareness and social consciousness.
