A pro-Tinubu support group has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint former Zamfara State governor, Senator Abubakar Yari, as Director-General of his 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
The call comes as preparations intensify for the President’s visit to Bayelsa State on Friday for the inauguration of key projects, including the Independent Power Plant in Yenagoa built by Governor Douye Diri.
Operating under the banner of the Senator Yari Support Network for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027, the group said stakeholders drawn from the six geo-political zones endorsed Yari for the strategic campaign role.
At a meeting held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat, the group described Yari as a unifying political figure with nationwide reach and experience.
National Coordinator of the group, Chief Preye Agama, said Yari’s political trajectory—spanning his time as a member of the House of Representatives, two-term governor, and current senator—positions him for higher national responsibilities.
“Senator Yari possesses the political capital, experience and network required to lead a successful presidential campaign,” Agama said. “We believe he has what it takes to pilot President Tinubu to victory in 2027.”
The group also highlighted Yari’s track record in youth empowerment, community development, economic reforms and advocacy for improved security, noting that he has consistently mobilised support for the President’s reform agenda.
Also speaking, Deputy National Coordinator of the group, Chief Seiyefa Felix, endorsed Yari’s candidacy, describing him as well-suited for the role.
Similarly, the South-West representative, Pastor Tope Fatile, commended Yari’s experience and competence, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the campaign effectively.
The group maintained that it is united in its demand for Yari’s appointment as Director-General of the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, Yenagoa has witnessed heightened activity ahead of the President’s visit, with residents anticipating the commissioning of major infrastructure projects in the state.
