Gunmen abduct girl in Ondo, demand N10m ransom

Gunmen suspected of being kidnappers, yesterday, abducted a 19-year-old girl, Adetutu Okinbaloye, from her residence in Imoru community, Ose Local Council of the state.

The Guardian gathered that the abductors, who were seven in number,  stormed the residence of the victim, where she lives with her aunt, before whisking her away.

The victim’s aunt was said to have received machete cuts from the kidnappers while pleading with them not to take her niece away.

According to sources in the community, the abductors made contact with the family and demanded N10 million as ransom.

Following the incident, local security men in the community have been on the trail of the kidnappers by combing forests in the axis.

Reacting, spokesperson for Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said the case was yet to be officially reported to the police.

She, however, stated that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area had confirmed the abduction of one person by unknown gunmen.

“The issue at Imoru was not officially reported at the station, but the DPO confirmed that the monarch of the town told him that three people were abducted by unknown gunmen. While two escaped, the third person was whisked away,” she added.
