Gunmen abduct passengers of two commercial buses in Kogi
Police authorities in Kogi State, yesterday, confirmed the hijack and abduction of the occupants of two luxury buses in the state.
An eyewitness said the two buses involved were travelling to Abuja from the eastern part of the country and belonged to God is Good Motors and ABC Transport.
The witness said the passengers are currently being held hostage by the kidnappers.
According to the witness, the incident happened on Saturday, February 3, at Inele Eteke Ogugu new road, in Olamamabo Local Council, in the eastern flank of the state.
Confirming the incident yesterday, spokesperson for the command, SP William Ovye Aya, said “The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), local vigilantes and hunters have been in the bush in an effort to rescue the victims. CP Bethrand Onuoha has deployed additional Tactical Squad consisting of the Quick Response Unit, Police Mobile Force, Couter-Terrorism Unit, as well as conventional police personnel to the area to continue with the bush combing and to ensure all victims are rescued unhurt.”
Aya, however, could not ascertain the number of passengers in the two vehicles.
