THE Director of Community Health in Rivers State Primary Health Care Management, Dr. Iseach Opuro and an ophthalmologist with the state-owned Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital, Mrs. Ibifubara Apriokor, have been kidnapped.

The two medical doctors have since been whisked away to an unknown destination by their captors.

The Guardian gathered that unidentified gunmen invaded Opuro’s residence at about 2.00am yesterday while Apriokor was reportedly kidnapped last Sunday on her way to church in Port Harcourt.

The abductors were yet to initiate communications with their families and relatives as at press time.

Meanwhile, the state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NBA) and the state Ministry of Health have condemned what they termed “unabated abduction of medical doctors in the state.”
