Armed men have reportedly killed a 19-year-old boy, Jude Nicodemus, and wounded two others at Gana Ropp village, in Barkin Ladi Local Council of Plateau State.
The incident happened Wednesday night, at about 8:00 p.m.
The attack was said to have happened after intelligence suggested Fulani militants vowed to carry out hostilities in villages during Christmas celebrations.
An attack was also reported, last week, at a hamlet called Shurum of Dorowa Babuje, before Marit District, Barkin Ladi Council, where a man was shot dead.
Berom Youth Moulders Association, (BYM), in a statement by National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong, yesterday, condemned recent killings in parts of the state.
The group also called on security outfits, particularly Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), to “redouble efforts in combating the resurgence of terrorism and flush out terrorist elements stationed in the hills of Barkin Ladi Local Council and parts of Plateau.”
BYM also commended “the rapid response of Sector 4 Commander, Col. U.S. Abdulsalam, for his swift action that forestalled further casualties in the general area.
“BYM sympathised with families that lost loved ones in recent unprovoked attacks and appealed to members of the public to be more vigilant before, during, and after the festive season.”
The association appealed for calm and called on government and relevant bodies to come to the aid of families of the deceased and injured.
