Gunmen kill APC chieftain in Bayelsa

Gunmen suspected to be hired assassins in the early hours of Wednesday stormed the residence of a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Frank Oputu and shot him dead in cold blood.
  
It was gathered that Oputu, a critic of the on-going crisis in the state’s APC, who had also served as State Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), was murdered at his residence at Bay-Bridge, a suburb of Yenagoa.
  
The founding member of the APC, was shot dead through his window while asleep.
     
Contacted,  the spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Superintendent of Police (SP) Asinimi Bustwat, confirmed the incident, stressing that the Commissioner of Police, Nebolisa Okolo, has charged operatives to intensify efforts to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
   
He re-assured members of the public that the culprits would be arrested and brought to book.
