couple and three other persons have been gunned down in Sohon Kerang community, Mangu Local Council of Plateau State.
The Guardian learnt that the gunmen arrived the community on Monday night and started firing gunshots behind SWAN Water Company in Kerang. They reportedly killed five persons before escaping.
A local source disclosed that the victims were given mass burial, yesterday, after traditional Islamic prayers.
Mangu people expressed shock that the incident could happen amid a 24-hour curfew in the area.
Some natives told The Guardian that the casualty figure would have been more, if there had been no curfew.
“The curfew limited the movement of people; if not, thousands of people would have been out that time and would have been killed,” a local said.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Alfred Alabo, said he would investigate the incident and revert, but did not as at the time of filing this report.
