Gunmen kill Oyo commissioner’s brother over motorbike
• Ogun lecturer found dead in his car
45-year-old Isaac Orisadeyi Adedoku, younger brother to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters in Oyo State, Mrs. Funmilayo Orisadeyi, was shot dead on Tuesday evening in Ibadan, the state capital.
Orisadeyi, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said two hospitals rejected the victim before he passed on. It was gathered that Adedoku was riding on a motorcycle while returning home from work around 8:00p.m. on Tuesday evening when some gunmen trying to snatch the bike from the rider shot him.
As gathered, the motorcyclist resisted attempts to snatch the bike when the armed men shot and killed him. It was another motorcyclist passing by that alerted the public to the development.
In another development, a young man, Adoja Tanaku, was beheaded after a brief argument with his friend, simply identified as Joseph in Bakatare area of Ibadan. Eyewitnesses said the two engaged in an argument before Joseph went into his room, took a cutlass and beheaded Tanaku.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbemiga Fadeyi, who confirmed the two incidents, said the deceased and Joseph were Beniniose. Fadeyi said Joseph was already in police net while the body of the victim has been deposited at the Adeoyo Hospital morgue, Ibadan.
Speaking on the commissioner’s brother who was murdered, Fadeyi said the police were investigating the killers of Isaac. “Nothing was taken away from the victim. We are still investigating the incident and police will get to the root of the matter.”
MEANWHILE, a lecturer at the D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori in Ogun State, Engr Mufutau Olayemi, had been found dead in his car. The lecturer, who was the Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, was found dead in his car on Wednesday morning.
The Public Relations Officer of D.S Adegbenro Polytechnic has confirmed the incident to newsmen. At the time of filing this report, plans were underway for Olayemi’s burial.
