Gunmen launch multiple attacks on Birnin-Gwari, kill 2, kidnap 18
Unknown gunmen, yesterday, reportedly killed two persons and kidnapped not less than 18 others in multiple attacks in Birnin-Gwari Council of Kaduna State.
It was gathered that the armed bandits, who abducted a nursing mother, a kid and others, also intercepted not less than five vehicles.
But when contacted on phone to confirm the development, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Austin Iwar, said the information was not true, adding that only one person was killed and a lady kidnapped, while another one person was injured in the attack and had been rushed to hospital for treatment.
Iwar also debunked the assertion that kidnappers launched attack in Birnin Gwari at three consecutive times.
But a driver who plied the Birnin-Gwari Kaduna axis, name (withheld) told The Guardian that the bandits attacked the area on three occasions and that he managed to escape been kidnapped by the bandits.
“The gunmen blocked the road three times today. The first time, they opened fire at some cars, numbering about four that were on high speed coming from Jere and killed two persons, then escaped into the bush.
“Subsequently they reappeared on the highway and stopped another car plying the highway, in which they abducted people in the car and move into the bush with them.
