Some concerned residents in Katsina State ignored the widely publicized nationwide protest to seek divine intervention over lingering hardship, insecurity, and other vices in the country.
Reports have it that these concerned residents came out in their numbers to fill the Katsina Arabic Teachers College Playground and three other open spaces in the state capital on Tuesday to offer prayers for the country.
The residents called on Almighty Allah to alleviate inherent economic hardship, hunger, insecurity, and poor governance, and most importantly, eliminate everyone connected with the lingering problems that triggered the protest.
“We came here to worship God and prayed for Him to wipe away our tears,” said one of the participants.
The concerned residents posited that mostly politicians, traditional title holders, business class, security personnel, clerics, the rich, and even the poor persons in society are part of several factors militating against the country’s progress.
The gathering was widely attended by all genders amidst tight security as residents performed Al-Qunut Prayer, a type of supplication offered for specific points while standing. Al-Qunut is a type of recommended prayer, especially when a calamity befalls Muslims.
A similar exercise was conducted in the early morning hours of Monday at the Filin Samji, Filin Yammawa, and Filin Canada football grounds.
