Hoodlums have allegedly attacked popular Nigerian artist, and “Your case” crooner, Teniola Akpata, also known as Teni, while performing at Buguma Town in Asari-Toru Local Council of Rivers State.

A video trending on Social Media, yesterday, showed moments when the musician was performing one of her hit singles, Super Power, and all of a sudden, there was pandemonium as sporadic gunshots were heard in the background resulting in people running to safety.

Sources alleged that the attack was an attempt to abduct the singer.

However, the show organisers are yet to issue any statement on the incident.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Grace Iringi-Koko confirmed the incident but refuted the kidnap attempt.

She said: “Contrary to what many thought, that there was an attempt to kidnap the singer, the gunshots heard in the background were from security operatives, who were shooting in the air to repel some disgruntled elements, who were throwing objects at her while on stage.”

Iringe-Koko said investigations have been launched to bring the perpetrators to book.
