Hope rises for completion of new Ugwogo Market

The Contractor handling the construction work at the New Orie Ugwogo Market in Enugu East local government area, Enugu state, Geosquaremeter Innovative Ltd., has assured traders and stakeholders that the project will be completed promptly.

Principal Consultant of the company, Prof. Victor Nnam, gave the assurance while providing a comprehensive update on the progress of work in the market, emphasising that the project would meet its scheduled deadline.

He highlighted the ongoing work on the market’s prototype and identified specific areas where the Enugu East Local Government will begin the construction of new shops.

The developer, a former Commissioner of Lands in the state, stressed the importance of clear communication and planning to ensure the smooth implementation of the market’s development.

Nnam encouraged potential investors to explore available investment opportunities in the market, noting that the project would become a major economic hub in the area.

He advised interested parties to visit the local government secretariat or his office to learn more about how they could get involved in the growing business center.

He said the old Orie Ugwogo Market would be relocated to the new location by the first week of February 2024 and pledged strict adherence to approved designs.

He urged those who have already secured shop spaces to begin their developments within the specified timelines, warning that failure to do so would result in reassignment or relocation.
The Council boss reassured the traders that the swift action was designed to improve the market’s infrastructure and benefit both the local economy and the traders.

Also speaking, the traditional ruler of the Umunonu Community, Chief Joseph Ugwumba Agbo, expressed the support of his people for the ongoing development.

He said the new market would enhance trade and improve the livelihoods of traders in the community.
He commended Pastor Anike for ensuring the timely progress of the project and called on all community members to cooperate with the development process
