Kano drug agency sets to upgrade manufacturing unit
Director-General of Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumable Supply Agency, Mr Gali Sule said the agency is upgrading its drug manufacturing unit in a bid to obtain certification from regulatory bodies such as Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) and National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
Speaking on Thursday during a courtesy visit by Gidado Yusuf, the first vice president of the National Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP), the DG expressed readiness to partner with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bayero University Kano (BUK), to enhance training and research on drug manufacturing.
This is contained in a statement by Farouk Musa, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, released on Thursday in Kano.
Sule said the agency was upgrading its drug manufacturing unit, to enable it to get certification from regulatory bodies such as Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) and National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
“The manufacturing facility will operate in a standard way to complement the private sector for maximum benefit through producing drugs, and quality control testing of procured drugs.
“The agency will also welcome students on industrial training from various tertiary institutions, especially Bayero University Kano,” Sule was quoted as saying in the statement.
Earlier, Yusuf said the visit was to strengthen the existing working relationships between them, and pledged support to enable the agency to achieve its mandate.
