Humanitarian group founder, Toyosi Akure bags EDEXEL varsity honorary doctorate 

Alongside other prominent Nigerians including the Ooni of Ife, Oba (Dr) Adeyeye Ogunwusi Enitan, Ojaja II, and Emir of Borgu, Niger State, Muhammad Haliru Dantoro, Kitoro IV, founder of humanitarian group, Toyosi Akure BAO Foundation, Stephen Toyosi Akure, has been conferred with Doctorate Degrees (Honoris Causa) in Human Capital Development by the governing council of EDEXCEL University Port-Novo, Benin Republic.

Akure, who is based in the United States of America, joined the other awardees at the award and investiture ceremony held at the Sultan Bello Hall, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The conferment ceremony coincided with the annual Prof Ode Emmanuel Colloquium, International Conference, Award and Investiture ceremony.

Prof Ode Emmanuel Egbe, president and founder of the institution in his address at the ceremony said the conferment was in recognition of the recipients’ remarkable service to humanity, advancement of quality education and selfless service to the country.

“The honorary recipients are exemplary Nigerian ambassadors who have made indelible impacts in and outside the country”, he said.

In his remarks, Dr. Toyosi Stephen Akure expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God and the Governing Council of Edexcel University for finding him worthy of the honour.

He described EDEXCEL University as an exceptional symbol of strength and resilience in the educational sector, noting that as a testament to its world-class standards and academic vigour, the institution has produced and continued to produce some of Africa’s best, brightest, and finest.

Established in 2014, the Edexcel University serves as a frontline knowledge impacting and academic institution. The 2023 International Conference and Award ceremony had dignitaries from all works of life in attendance, including political office holders, royal fathers from across the country, businessmen and academicians.

Toyosi Akure BAO Foundation is a non-governmental and non-profiting organization, set up with sole purpose of reaching out to the less privileged members of the society including widows, orphans, and students as well as helpless youth with a vision to ensuring poverty reduction through children, youth and women empowerment.

Other eminent Nigerian personalities listed as recipients included Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser to the President of Nigeria, H.R.H. Alhaji Yusuf Sani Manzo, Sarkin fulani Daura, Katsina State; Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale, Oluwo of Iwo, Osun State; Dr. Ameen Abdulsalaam Germans, Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, Gombe State; and Barr. Yusuf Ibrahim Abdul, Abuja.
