ICPC files defence in N1b suit 10 months after

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) yesterday filled a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, challenging the suit brought against it by Pinnacle Communications Limited (PCL).

PCL had taken ICPC to court in July 2018, claiming N1 billion against the commission for ‘unlawfully’ withholding its money domiciled in a commercial bank without a valid court order. At resumed hearing before Justice Taiwo Taiwo, counsel to the plaintiff, Oluwole Olatunde, told the court that the matter should be heard.

On its part, ICPC, represented by E.A Shogunle, told the court that he had filed his counter processes opposing the originating processes, but that he had an application for extension of time to regularise his processes, having filed out of time.

But Okey Ojukwu, who appeared for the second defendant (the bank) informed the court that he had filed two applications on May 20, 2019 in respect of the matter. After hearing the parties, Justice Taiwo adjourned the matter to June 27 for hearing of all pending applications.
