The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced tracking of constituency and executive projects worth N41 billion Kano State.

According to ICPC, 99 cases are constituency projects, while the remaining seven are executive projects distributed across the 44 local government areas of the state.

A statement by ICPC Kano State Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Barr. Ibrahim Garba, on Friday, revealed the commitment of the anti-graft to ensure transparency and accountability.

Barr. Garba said the exercise aims to ensure the faithful execution of the projects according to specifications, in a bid to benefit citizens, curb wastage, and prevent corruption.

The statement urged community members to report any observed irregularities in project execution to the Commission and to take ownership of project sites within their areas.

“The Commission has prioritized sectors that have a direct impact on citizens’ lives, including education, health, agriculture, water, rural roads, power, and youth empowerment,” it said.

According to the statement, the Commission would collaborate with critical stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the tracking initiative.

These stakeholders include the media, the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), and civil society organizations.

The tracking exercise underscores the ICPC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the effective utilization of government resources.
