Ifelodun residents hail police over arrest of suspected criminal

Ifelodun Landlords’ and Residents’ Association in Iju/Ishaga, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Council of Lagos State have commended the police in Lagos over their quick intervention by arresting a suspected criminal in their area and recovering large quantities of Indian hemp and other dangerous weapons.

The association said their swift intervention after a formal petition to the Commissioner of Police, the officers have shown that they are ready to collaborate with associations and communities to provide adequate security to every citizen in Nigeria.

According to the chairman of the association, Mr. Olusegun Oduntan, “We based our petition against one of the residents of our community, who had embarked on serious breach of peace and was a threat to the lives of entire residents of the community.

“He became a thorn in the flesh of every individual, including those that sold land to him and after building his own house, he used it to cause trouble in the area. Unfortunately, he has continued to boast that he would regain his freedom and deal with all of us.

“That is why we are appealing to the police to transfer the case to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for prosecution so as to serve as a deterrent to other criminals terrorising their communities.”
