The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) as it commences its 2025 Annual National Convention in Lagos, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of police personnel and their families.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP lauded the association’s National President, Dr. Elizabeth Egbetokun, for her visionary leadership and dedication to transforming POWA into a vibrant platform for empowerment, national development, and family support within the police community.
Themed “Unlocking POWA Potentials and Transformational Leadership,” the three-day convention, scheduled from July 30 to August 1, 2025, is being held at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event promises to be a milestone in POWA’s evolution, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for strengthening the association’s role in promoting the welfare of police families.
The opening ceremony, held on Wednesday, July 30, was attended by an array of dignitaries, including senior government officials, traditional rulers, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, women leaders, and senior police officers.
The convention’s agenda includes empowerment sessions, sports activities, and initiatives focused on enhancing the mental, physical, and economic well-being of POWA members.
According to the IGP, the convention underscores POWA’s commitment to embracing innovation, leadership, and strategic partnerships that align with the evolving realities and challenges faced by police families.
He expressed optimism that the activities would inspire a new generation of female leaders capable of building stronger homes and making meaningful contributions to national peace and stability.
Reiterating the police leadership’s pledge to the welfare of its personnel, the IGP affirmed, “We remain committed to implementing improved welfare packages for both serving and retired officers.
“POWA remains a crucial pillar in supporting our officers and helping them maintain the strength and focus needed to serve our nation.”
