Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Ridwan Disu, yesterday, made his first operational visit to Kwara, where he promised more operational bases to rid the state of all forms of criminality.
Disu said he was part of the tactical team that visited the state early last month to contain the ravaging insecurity in parts of Kwara.
Addressing his men and other security stakeholders at the state police command in Ilorin, the IGP explained that he was concerned with any issue bordering on insecurity and general criminality.
He appreciated the relevant stakeholders, especially his men and the residents, who have always provided useful information to security operatives in their battle against insecurity.
The police chief sought more cooperation from the citizens, especially the traditional institutions.
Disu lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his untiring support to the police, stating: “I have visited and thanked the governor for his assistance; he has really helped us in fighting those criminals.”
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Adekimi Ojo, appreciated the emirate for its steadfastness to the police, seeking a similar gesture from other traditional institutions across the state.
EQUALLY, the IGP has charged the newly promoted and decorated Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIG) to see their duties beyond command controls, to include professional excellence, and unwavering commitment to the ideals and responsibilities of policing in Nigeria.
Disu, who gave the charge at the decoration of DIGs in Abuja yesterday, told the promoted officers that the moment marks the assumption of even greater responsibilities in the leadership and strategic management of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
“This ceremony represents far more than the adornment of new insignia. Your elevation to this highly strategic rank is a testament to your professionalism, leadership capacity, and consistent record of service to the nation,” he added.
