Ihedioha goes to tribunal over polls
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Imo governorship candidate and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has proceeded to the governorship and legislative tribunal sitting in Owerri, capital of Imo State, to challenge the declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC), candidate, Governor Rochas Okorocha as the duly elected person in the just concluded governorship election in the state.
A statement yesterday in Owerri, by Ihedioha’s media aide, Mr. Chibuike Onyeukwu, via a text message to The Guardian via GSM, said in the suit EPT/IM/GOV/3/2015, the lawmaker is asking the tribunal “declare him the winner of the election or alternatively, cancel the entire exercise and conduct a fresh election.”
The statement stated that legal luminary, Chief Mike Ahamba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is the lead counsel in the case.
