The people of Iko community in Eastern Obolo Local Council of Akwa Ibom State have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on Sterling Energy and Production Company Nigerian Limited (SEEPCO) to follow due process before production in the OML 13.
They made this plea during a press conference held at the community hall at the council headquarters yesterday.
The Protem Chairman of the community, Mr. Sampson Agba; Youth President, Mr. Evans Toyo and Woman Leader, Mrs. Amira Sampson, who spoke on behalf of the community, stressed that they would not accept a second party to negotiate for the community on what the company would do for them.
According to them, any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) must be what the indigenes of the community agreed but not what would be foisted on them from an outsider.
