ABIA State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu yesterday, flagged off the rehabilitation of a road linking Amanmoghu in Aba suburb with Port Harcourt road. The link road comprises three streets namely Ibere, Ohazu and Ozuomba, which stretch for six kilometers.

Addressing the excited residents, he said the reconstructing Obohia road was his topmost priority but lamented that he could not do so because it was encumbered by a subsisting Contract awarded for its rehabilitation by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

He urged the NDDC to quickly resume work on the road to save the people and commuters from trauma.

The link roads are part of the 47 roadshas embarked on with 25 of them within Aba and environs and are at various stages of work even as about twelve had been completed and formally commissioned.

The governor, who said that all the roads are designed to have appropriate drainages, directed residents to stop illegal erection of structures, urging them to demolish illegally erected ones.
