Kwara PDP presents Certificates of Return, INEC forms to guber candidate, prospective lawmakers

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has presented Certificates of Return and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination forms to all its candidates for the 2027 general elections, marking the conclusion of the party’s primary election process.

The development signals the commencement of the party’s campaign to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Friday in Ilorin by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the PDP said the latest presentation ceremony was held at its State Secretariat in Ilorin, where Certificates of Return and relevant INEC nomination forms were presented to the party’s 24 House of Assembly candidates who emerged victorious in the primaries conducted across the state’s 24 constituencies.

According to the statement, the ceremony represents another milestone in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, with all its candidates now having received their Certificates of Return and statutory nomination documents.
“The presentation to the House of Assembly candidates followed an earlier ceremony held at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, where the party’s governorship candidate, Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu (Daniya Geri of Ilorin), alongside the three senatorial candidates and six House of Representatives candidates, received their Certificates of Return and INEC Forms EC9 and EC13A,” the statement said.

The Abuja ceremony was attended by the Kwara State PDP Chairman, Hon. Isa Bawa Adamu, members of the State Working Committee, and other senior party stakeholders, who accompanied the governorship and National Assembly candidates to the national headquarters.

Speaking at the event, Adamu congratulated the House of Assembly candidates on their emergence and urged them to regard their victories as a collective mandate to serve the people with humility and dedication.
He charged the candidates to remain united, disciplined, and committed to strengthening the party’s structures across their constituencies while carrying all stakeholders along throughout the campaign.

The chairman said the PDP in Kwara was fortunate to have experienced and visionary leadership under former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, whose commitment to internal democracy, consultation, and consensus-building had continued to unite the party and position it strongly ahead of the 2027 elections.

Responding on behalf of the House of Assembly candidates, their spokesperson thanked the party leadership for conducting transparent, credible, and peaceful primary elections.
The candidates pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them by working closely with party leaders, members, and supporters, while engaging critical stakeholders across their constituencies to ensure the PDP records overwhelming victories in the 2027 general elections.

The Kwara PDP reaffirmed its confidence in all its candidates and called on members and supporters across the state’s 16 local government areas to remain united and committed as the party intensifies consultations and grassroots mobilisation towards delivering responsive, inclusive, and people-oriented governance in Kwara State.
