Former Vice President and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has promised to rebuild and unite the country if elected in 2023.

He gave the assurance while consulting with PDP party leaders and delegates in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.

He commended the state party for its massive vote for his election in 2019 and assured them of the state returning to PDP.

“Let us bring back PDP to Cross River, APC is not your party. I promise to rebuild that unity we had when PDP was still in power. I will give each and every part of this country its own right. No religion will be discriminated against.

“I said in the 2019 election that I will fix the economy, PDP made the economy the number one in Africa. We can do it again, so let us have PDP back in Cross River and also in the country,” he told the delegates.

Recalling their time together when PDP was in power, the former state governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, said Atiku was a stronghold and one of the founding fathers of the party.

Imoke, who is also the leader of the party in the state, assured the presidential aspirant of their support.

Also, the state party Chairman, Venatus Ikem, also assured Atiku and his campaign team of support.

“Your history in Cross River did not start today, it started long ago. And I know in the last election, you pulled many votes from Cross River. I assure you that in you we have a partnership,” Ikem stated.
