Imo APC expels Hope Uzondinma
The Daniel Nwafor-led faction of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Imo state has expelled the party’s gubernatorial candidate Hope Uzondinma ahead of the forthcoming general election.
Nwafor said the party took the decision over an allegation of anti-party activities of the candidate.
“This is to inform you that the All Progressives Congress, Omuma Ward of Oru East Local Government Area in Imo State has expelled Senator Hope Uzodinma from the party due to certain inordinate and anti-party activities perpetrated by him and his cohorts,” Nwafor and the secretary of the party in the state Obioma Ireagwu said in a joint statement.
Nwafor told a press conference on Thursday that Uzodinmma has been sponsoring a senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance against APC’s candidate Rochas Okorocha.
“Senator Hope Uzodinma has been sponsoring the All Progressives Grand Alliance Senatorial candidate, Senator Osita Izunaso instead of the APC Senatorial candidate in Imo West, Governor Rochas Okorocha,” Nwafor told a press conference.
The controversy started in the party’s chapter of the state after the Governor Rochas Okorocha’s anointed successor and son-in-law Uche Nwosu lost the APC governorship ticket.
Nwosu lost the governorship ticket to Uzodinma, who is representing Orlu constituency of Imo State in the Nigerian Senate
The governor then announced that Nwosu would seek his governorship ambition on the platform of Action Alliance, but will still support APC’s presidential candidate.
