The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) yesterday declared that election will hold across the state’s 27 councils and 645 wards on Saturday, August 25, 2018.

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) yesterday declared that election will hold across the state’s 27 councils and 645 wards on Saturday, August 25, 2018.

Chairman of ISIEC, Ethelbert Ibeabuchi, who disclosed the commission’s readiness to organize credible, free and fair election, promised a level playing ground for all political parties.

The election is being conducted seven years after Governor Rochas Okorocha sacked council chairmen on assuming office in 2011, following repeated failure to organise successful council polls due to subsisting court case.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hinted that it would boycott the exercise, accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) of conducting the exercise in spite of a case at the Supreme Court.
