Improved productivity, service delivery, Lagos govt tells workers

Lagos State Government has tasked workers with gaining new knowledge and techniques that will aid their agencies in delivering higher productivity and services to the residents.

Speaking during an in-house training programme, themed “Capacity Building Towards Higher Productivity and Effective Service Delivery” for the staff of Lagos State Agricultural Input Supply Authority (LAISA), the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, Mr Emmanuel Audu, emphasised the importance of continuous learning and skills development in today’s dynamic world.

He described the training as a critical step toward transforming the state’s agricultural landscape.

Represented by Mrs Olawunmi Akinola, the Permanent Secretary stated that by equipping its workforce with the latest knowledge and techniques, the state government could significantly boost output, reduce waste, and build a more resilient food system for Lagos and Nigeria.

In his contribution, a former Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Civil Service and a three-time member of the House of Representatives, Mr Wale Raji, praised the Lagos State Agricultural Input Supply Authority (LAISA), stating that the agency was “headed in the right direction” under its new leadership.

Speaking on the topic, “LAISA: An Overview of a Sleeping Giant,” Raji described his visit as a homecoming. He expressed pride in the work of the current General Manager, Mrs Olufolake Oluyemi, and her management team, noting that the training would not only refresh the staff’s knowledge but also serve as an opportunity for self-appraisal.

The Special Adviser on Agriculture and Food Systems, Dr Rotimi Fashola, congratulated the LAISA staff for having a general manager who prioritises their professional development.

Represented by Mr. Olabode Balogun, the Director of Rice, Fashola said training is the “tonic that enhances performance” and demonstrates the General Manager’s commitment to the staff’s best interests.
