IMSU announces studies resume today
The authorities of Imo State University, Owerri, have directed students to return to the institution for studies.
In a statement, yesterday, issued by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Ralph Njoku-Obi, which was read on radio stations in the state, it was directed that staff members of the institution should resume work, as students resume lectures today, September 20, 2022.
Njoku-Obi said the decision of the institution’s management was in the interest of all to end the seven- month-old strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Speaking with The Guardian, a professor of French language in the institution, Prof. Violene Obinna, said the IMSU chapter of ASUU has not pulled out of the strike.
He said that the lecturers cannot stop the management from doing what it is doing, adding that they will watch the situation, but must adhere to the national body of the union.
