Inner Wheel installs Fakeye as Chairman

Omolola Olubukunola Fakeye

The Inner Wheel Nigeria, District 911, has installed Omolola Olubukunola Fakeye as its 42nd District Chairman in a ceremony marked by celebration, reflection, and renewed commitment to service.

Fakeye, a chartered president of Inner Wheel Club of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and a passionate advocate for community development, pledged to lead with inclusiveness, mentorship, and a deep focus on sustainable service.

The new chairman, while speaking at the installation ceremony at the weekend, described the theme, “Step Up and Lead by Example,” as a call to action for members to demonstrate leadership through empathy, inclusiveness, and impactful service.

Fakeye, however, unveiled an ambitious service plan for the 2025–2026 Inner Wheel year, with a total project budget of N84 million to address key areas, such as healthcare, education, empowerment, and environmental sustainability.

According to her, top on the list is the renovation and furnishing of LUTH Block 4 (College of Nursing Science Hostel), a three-level building project budgeted at N10 million per floor, to help the hospital admit more nursing students and expand the nation’s healthcare workforce.

She also announced a vocational training programme worth N10 million aimed at equipping trainees with employable skills for over three months and six months period.

Other initiatives, she said, include the creation of three Inner Wheel Gardens (N3 million), and a Mega Orange the World awareness campaign aligned with global efforts to end violence against women.

Fakeye, who pledged support for eight international health days and advocacy on breast and cervical cancer, with a budget of N500,000 for each event, among others, said her leadership would prioritise mentoring the next generation of girls and women, while also reinforcing Inner Wheel’s core values of friendship, personal service, and collaboration.

She noted that stepping into district leadership is an opportunity to serve at a higher level and deepen the organisation’s impact across communities, adding that her tenure would focus on creating more opportunities for members to contribute meaningfully, while amplifying the organisation’s voice on key issues affecting women and families.

She, therefore, called on fellow members, partners, and the media to support Inner Wheel’s mission and help strengthen its visibility across Nigeria and beyond.
