In a very warm atmosphere, an esteemed insurance expert and philanthropist, Prof. Ahmed Olaniyi Salawudeen, marked his 80th birthday on January 16, 2025, with close family, friends, and colleagues in Lekki, Lagos.

The occasion was a tribute to his remarkable career and lasting impact on the insurance industry.

The event began in the comfort of Salawudeen’s penthouse, where guests were welcomed with heartfelt speeches and warm well-wishes.

As the evening unfolded, they enjoyed an array of spiritual and culinary delicacies, showcasing Salawudeen’s renowned generosity and hospitality.

Among those who attended were prominent figures in the insurance sector, as well as personal friends and business associates who have worked closely with Salawudeen over the years. His profound influence in the industry and his dedication to philanthropy were key themes that emerged from speeches and tributes during the celebration.

The former Managing Director of Staco Insurance Plc, Sakiru Oyefeso, described Salawudeen as a mentor who inspires others through his integrity and commitment.

“We get inspiration from him; he’s our mentor. He’s an honest man. When you do business with him, he does not cheat, and he expects you to deliver positively too,” Oyefeso said.

Managing Director of Standard Insurance Consultants Ltd., Bolaji Oladipo, described him as an iconic figure in the insurance sector.

“He is a father figure to many of us. We look up to him for everything. He is a wonderful man, and I wish him long life and prosperity.”

In his response to the tributes, Salawudeen reflected on his experiences and challenges.

He expressed concern over the leadership in the country.

“Our problem in Nigeria is infinitesimal thieves. They are the ones leading Nigeria. I always say, speak practically, don’t embellish the truth. What I’ve done, and what you are telling people about me, that is what is important,” he noted.

The gathering was graced by dignitaries from various sectors, including members of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADSN), the Aseyin of Iseyin land, Oba Sefiu Oyebola Adeyeri III, Ajirotutu I; the President of the Nigeria Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Babatunde Oguntade; former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olalekan Adegbite, and managing directors from several insurance companies.
