Integrity Group applauds Oborevwori over N10bn pension intervention

Delta State Governor, Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori

The Integrity Group (IG) has commended the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, for approving over N10 billion to address pension-related challenges in the state, describing the intervention as a significant step toward alleviating the long-standing hardship faced by retirees.

The commendation was made during a press conference held in Asaba as part of activities marking the third anniversary of the Oborevwori administration, scheduled for Friday.

Speaking at the briefing, the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bureau for State Pensions and Director of Organised Labour Integrity Group Nigeria, Comrade Lawson Efenudu, said the governor had demonstrated genuine commitment to the welfare of both pensioners and serving workers through sustained financial interventions.

According to him, the N10 billion pension package is aimed at reducing the backlog of unpaid entitlements and improving the living conditions of retirees across the state.

Efenudu explained that the intervention also covers workers still in active service, noting that the administration has continued to support both categories through regular allocations.

“The workers still receive N500 million, while retirees also get another N500 million, separate from the N10 billion intervention,” he stated.

He maintained that the government’s commitment to pension administration and workers’ welfare has restored confidence among civil servants and retirees in the state.

Also speaking, the National President of the Integrity Group, Dr. Oke Idawene, praised Governor Oborevwori for what he described as outstanding performance across key sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, peace, and security.

Idawene said the governor had surpassed public expectations within his first three years in office, adding that the Integrity Group would continue to support his administration and future political aspirations.

He declared that Governor Oborevwori’s re-election bid remained a priority for the group, stressing that the governor had earned the trust and confidence of many Deltans through visible development projects and reforms.

“When you see a good governor, you appreciate him. When a governor is performing well, labour unions will have little or nothing to agitate about. Did you see ASUU going on strike in the state? No,” he said.

He further described Oborevwori as “a leader who has delivered meaningful progress and opportunities for all Deltans,” adding that residents had witnessed massive development, realistic reforms, and improved peace and security under the current administration.
