
The pupils, who visited The Guardian corporate head-office alongside three of their teachers and proprietor, were shown around the company premises and taught the different stages and processes involved in newspaper production from news gathering to printing.
Proprietor of the school, Adebanjo Olugbenro Oludotun, who led the students to the Flagship, said: “We came to The Guardian to know more about what is happening in the media industry and it has been worthwhile. I hope everyone will come around to see the standard of professionalism at The Guardian and the amount of work put into producing copies of the newspaper daily .
On the importance of the visit, he said it is necessary for Nigerians to understand the importance of journalism and its contributions to nation building.“We want to expose the children as young as they are to the importance of news gathering and viability of information. From what we have seen today, it will go a long way to mould the career path of some of them in the nearest future,” he said.
