Femi Oke-Osanyintolu

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, has said that emergency responders must share information, work together, gather intelligence and look for early warnings for emergency management to be effective, stating that safety of lives and property cannot be achieved without unity.

Oke-Osanyintolu, speaking at a one-day capacity building workshop for emergency management stakeholders in Lagos State, stated that synergy is key to achieving positive results, as much would not be achieved if the stakeholders do not work together.

According to him, it is important that each of the stakeholders in the management of emergencies play their roles diligently, maintaining that there is no overlapping in the roles of each of the responders. “We must fine tune our roles and responsibilities.”

He said that if any of the responders have information and it was not shared, such information is useless.

He implored emergency stakeholders including residents to work as a team during the sallah festival and do everything humanly possible to ensure safety of lives and property.

Oke-Osanyintolu enjoined residents to be vigilant and understand the importance and know the emergency numbers in Lagos State to managing emergencies by reporting incidents within their environ to government agencies to take action. He appealed to residents not to interfere with responders when managing emergencies.
