The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed that sustained inter-agency cooperation remains central to effective security management in Delta State, amid evolving criminal threats across land and riverine communities.
The Commander, 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, made this known yesterday during a courtesy visit by the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, to the Brigade Headquarters in Asaba.
Brigadier General Shonibare described collaboration among security agencies as a “critical pillar” for maintaining public order and safeguarding lives and property, stressing that no single agency can successfully address the state’s complex security challenges in isolation.
He assured the Delta State Police Command of the Army’s full support, pledging continuous engagement, intelligence coordination and joint operations to strengthen the existing security architecture across the state.
“The visit underscores our shared commitment to crime prevention and the protection of critical national assets. We are fully ready to work closely with the police to ensure a safer Delta State,” Shonibare said.
According to him, the engagement was aimed at deepening operational synergy between the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 JTF OPDS and the Delta State Police Command, with a focus on improving effective policing and overall security outcomes.
Earlier, CP Aina Adesola emphasised the importance of sustained cooperation, timely intelligence sharing and coordinated operational strategies among security agencies, noting that emerging security concerns require unified and proactive responses.
He particularly drew attention to persistent security challenges in Delta State’s riverine and coastal areas, which he said demand joint patrols, intelligence-led operations and consistent inter-agency communication.
