IPOB accuses Anambra government militia of murdering its members

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned the killing of 10 of its members across Anambra State by the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) working with Nigeria’s security agencies in the state.

The group said it has seen viral videos on social media and how the AVG killed innocent and defenceless citizens of Anambra, particularly in Ogbaru, Idemili South and North, Nnewi North and South, Awka North and South councils.

In a statement issued yesterday, the IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, called on the state government to caution its militias.

The statement reads in part: “IPOB wishes to reiterate our condemnation of incessant abduction and gruesome murder of IPOB members in Anambra by the state government by AVG working with security agencies in the state.

“Those in charge of AVG should know that IPOB will not forgive them; they can see viral videos on social media and how they killed our innocent and defenceless citizens in the state.

“We are calling on you to caution your militias. Soludo may not know what these criminals are doing in the street, but we are advising him to reorganise them, otherwise, they will bring dooms to him and his government.

“On September 22, 2022, more than 10 innocent dead IPOB members were discovered at Nnobi forest, in Idemili South Council of Anambra, where they were dumped after extra-judicial execution.

“The slain IPOB members were abducted from other communities in the state and executed at Nnobi forest. To deceive gullible minds, they made it seem they were criminals.

“The style of this killing is the same as that used by Fulani terrorists, masquerading as Nigerian soldiers and police personnel, to slaughter IPOB members by striping them naked and tying their hands behind their backs before shooting them.

“We want the public to know that for some weeks now, many IPOB members in Anambra have been missing since Soludo created this militia working with the military and police.”
