The usual sit-at-home directive by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been declared canceled and can’t continue, IPOB’s Spokesman, Emma Powerful, declared yesterday.

In a statement, Powerful said: IPOB has said it numerous times that Mondays’ sit-at-home is infamous and cannot be allowed to continue, and we are concerned that in some areas, especially rural areas, our people continue to observe the sit-at-home due to threats from criminal enforcers linking themselves to the IPOB movement.

“The now suspended sit-at-home was declared by IPOB leadership and was suspended by the leadership in collaboration with our leader after considering the adverse effects it has had on our people, and how enemies can possibly use it.

“Just as predicted by IPOB’s leadership, security agents, infiltrators and government agents hijacked it and used it to torment our people and to rubbish IPOB, especially in other countries.

“Mondays in the South East have become days for infiltrators and government security agencies to kill and destroy our land just because they want to blackmail IPOB. IPOB leadership is always ahead of our enemies and has canceled this tool before our enemies could start using it.

“We are telling all and sundry that sit-at-home has been canceled.

“Kanu has, once again, ordered, from Department of State Services (DSS) custody, that observance of sit-at-home should cease in every part of Biafra land.”

Powerful noted that the separatist group would, therefore, not be responsible for any outcome arising from non-existent sit-at-home, saying they will no longer talk about it.

He added that Ndigbo are not cowards and, therefore, should normalise their Mondays by going about their legitimate businesses like before.

He said that anyone seen enforcing sit-at-home should be treated as a criminal and enemy of the people.
