IPOB denies police claim of dismantling camp in Anambra

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Thursday, denied reports that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, dismantled a camp allegedly linked to its Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Aguluezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The group also urged the media not to rely solely on security agencies’ press statements but to conduct independent checks.
A statement by IPOB’s spokesperson, Comrade Emma Powerful, dismissed the report, describing it as “fabricated propaganda” and “a disgraceful hatchet job.”

He said, “We have no camp for police to dismantle in Anambra or anywhere else. No evidence has been presented, no independent investigation carried out, and no attempt made to verify from the community or IPOB. Instead, the media chose to peddle fiction as fact,” the IPOB spokesperson added.
Powerful challenged both the police and the media to present credible evidence in court if such a camp indeed existed, rather than “insulting the intelligence of Nigerians and the global community with propaganda.”

The group further accused sections of the Nigerian media of “lazy journalism and reckless peddling of propaganda,” claiming that such reports were part of a wider agenda to demonise IPOB and the Biafra movement.

According to IPOB, the organisation is willing to fund investigative teams to travel to the South-East to “see the truth for themselves instead of regurgitating propaganda from security agencies.”

The group warned that it would henceforth “call out, by name, every” media outlet involved in what it described as deliberate misinformation campaigns.

He added, “This lazy journalism underscores the moral bankruptcy of some Nigerian media houses. They have abandoned the sacred duty of investigative reporting and instead act as mouthpieces for a regime bent on ethnic demonisation.
“The shameful report, it’s not journalism. It is ethnic propaganda, it is dangerous, and it exposes it as complicit in the wider agenda of demonising Biafra and IPOB. Let it be known: IPOB remains whiter than white. No amount of propaganda can taint our cause, which is rooted in justice, self-determination, and truth.”
