ISOPADEC boss resigns, denies face-off with Imo govt

Charles Orie
In a rather surprising move, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Imo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Charles Orie, yesterday, resigned.  No clear reason was given for his decision.

Orie, who is a close friend of Governor Hope Uzodimma for decades, said that he neither has any problem with the governor nor the state government.

He, however, stated that he remains a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and a political leader in his ancestral area in Umuokanne, Ohaji /Egbema local council of Imo State.

He emphasised that Uzodimma remains his friend and a member of his family, warning social media purveyors not to spread fake news.

His letter, which was posted on some platforms reads: “This morning, I have decided to resign my position/appointment as the Managing Director/CEO of ISOPAFEC.”

“My resignation is not due to a problem with the governor or government of Imo. It is not every political leader in Imo that has a political appointment.

“I remain an APC political leader both in Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State and Nigeria. I am still working for Hope Uzodinma. The governor is more than a governor to me. He is my friend and a family member. I know, very soon, social media will start spreading rumours and fake news.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who supported me on this assignment as the Managing Director/CEO of ISOPADEC.”
