Jonathan Foundation lauds youths’ role in development
As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark the 2020 International Youth Day, the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) has called on African leaders to work towards a peaceful and inclusive society so that youths on the continent can meaningfully contribute to its growth and development.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Youth Engagement for Global Action”.
In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by its Communications Officer, Wealth Dickson Ominabo, the Foundation said that an inclusive and peaceful society was needed for the development of the continent.
The organisation extolled the resilience and patriotism of African youth and commended them for the various roles they have been playing towards addressing the many challenges of the continent, especially during this time of COVID- 19 pandemic.
“On International Youth Day 2020, we celebrate youth across Africa for their resilience, patriotism, and for the works they do towards addressing the many challenges in our societies especially during this time of COVID- 19 pandemic.
“Today, we renew our call for an open society across the nations of Africa. An environment that is peaceful, inclusive, just, and tolerant is what we need to develop.
“This is the atmosphere needed for youth and many other groups to effectively utilize their talents and skills and contribute meaningfully towards change and sustainable development,” the statement reads in part.
