The John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), yesterday, partnered a leading United States (US)-based online institution, Nexford University, to revolutionise digital learning through training and re-training of public and civil servants on service delivery.

The Director General of JOOPSA, Imuwahen Ajoonu, who stated this, said that the Edo State government has, through this strategic partnership, introduced an innovative digitalisation learning platform, aiming to equip its workforce with skills needed to thrive in the digital age and contribute to the state’s economic growth.

Ajoonu said: “In this disruptive age, digitalisation has emerged as a critical driver of progress and competitiveness in today’s fast-paced world.

“This collaboration promises to offer a host of benefits to civil and public servants across the state. By leveraging the potential of online platforms, professionals would gain access to array of courses, resources and interactive tools at their convenience.”

The academy’s boss noted that the flexibility provided by this digital initiative would empower individuals to improve their knowledge and skills, while effectively managing their work commitments

Ajoonu stated that the digitalised learning initiative leverages Nexford University’s expertise in delivering high-quality, flexible online education to provide accessible learning opportunities to individuals in Edo State.

She said the partnership aims to bridge the skill gap by offering comprehensive programmes in various digital disciplines, including data analytics, digital marketing, artificial intelligence, cyber security among others.

She further said that one of the key advantages of this collaboration is the blending of online and offline learning through JOOPSA’s extensive network of learning in the state.

She added: “This hybrid approach enables civil and public servants to access digital courses, while benefitting from remote and face-to-face interactions with qualified instructors, creating a well-rounded learning experience.

“Our collaboration with Nexford University marks a significant milestone in our pursuit of the MEGA agenda of Governor Godwin Obaseki. By harnessing the power of digitalisation, we are empowering the Edo workforce with skills needed to excel and contribute to socio-economic development of our state.”

The university’s representative, Zahra Safavian, emphasised the importance of the partnership, stating: “We are thrilled to be part of this groundbreaking initiative.
