June 12: Buhari, Osinbajo, Lawan, Gbajabiamila, Abiola’s Family at the Eagle Square
President Muhammadu Buhari is currently at the Eagles Square, Abuja, venue for the maiden celebration of the 2019 Democracy Day celebrations in Abuja.
On arrival at the venue, the President proceeded to the saluting dais where he took the military salute, while standing as the national anthem was rendered by the band on parade at the Eagle Square.
President Buhari afterwards inspected a guard of honour provided by the officers of Guards Brigade to the admiration and cheers from the guests.
A military musical display, silent drill and cultural troupe performance all characterised the celebration withnessed by the visitors.
Before then, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other top government officials to receive other world leaders at the venue arrived barely a few minutes before the President.
The new Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila was also at the venue for the celebration.
Members of the family of the late MKO Abiola was let to the venue of the ceremony by Kola Abiola.
Meanwhile, President Buhari is expected to deliver the Democracy Day address where he might unfold his agenda for his second term administration.
He had been criticised for failing to address Nigerians on May 29, which was his inuaguration date for his second term in office.
