Kaduna: Again, bandits kill one, kidnap six in Millennium City

Terrorists

Daredevil bandits, again, attacked Ungwan Maaji in the New Millennium City area, Chikun Local Council of Kaduna State. They shot one person and kidnapped six others.

The terrorists, according to the residents, stormed the community around 9.10p.m., on Friday, and attacked a house close to Chaha Eye Hospital, where they abducted a housewife and her house-help.

Residents said the bandits also attacked another house on the same street, where they abducted four others.

However, a witness said two other persons, who were taking fresh air outside their house, were also abducted, but the two escaped, including an Imam, while they were being taken away through a stream at the back of the community.

Narrating how he escaped, the Imam of the area, said he was yet to return home after leading the ‘Isha’i’ prayer, usually observed around 8.00p.m.when the hoodlums attacked.

The Iman said: “I was picked in front of the Mosque. Then, they broke into two other houses and abducted six persons. While they were breaking the second house, we were ordered to lie down on the bare floor.

“After the bandits broke into the second house and picked four persons, we became eight, then they started leading us out of the community. On getting to the stream at the far end of the community, two of us escaped while they were attempting to make us cross the stream.

“The bandits were young boys. I think the eldest of them should not be more than 20 years old.”

It was also learnt that the bandits shot one resident who was returning home in his car.

When The Guardian visited the area yesterday, the bullet-ridden Peugeot 406 belonging to the resident was still packed.

Residents said: “The man was returning in his car, and the bandits made attempt to stop him, but he refused, so they sprayed his vehicle with bullets.”

Meanwhile, when contacted, the Kaduna State Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Muhammad Jalige, said he would contact the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Millennium City and brief the press later. He never did as at the time of filling this report.
