KADUNA State Deputy Governor, Mr. Barnabas Bantex, has urged Nigerians to discard the concept of African time in their daily activities and official assignment if the country is to attain development and growth.

He said: “Not respecting time is as bad as corruption, it is unforgivable. This is one of the attitudinal change Mr. President is talking about, we must change our attitude for the better. This overdressing of venue of an event is time consuming, we don’t need it, and we must be time conscious at all times.”

This advice became necessary when the deputy governor arrived an event organized by Female Architects of Nigeria (FAN) and discovered the organisers were not on seat for a programme scheduled for 10.am.

After waiting for almost an hour, Bantex left and returned an hour later, but the event, a national conference organised by FAN, where the deputy governor was a special guest of honour for the opening ceremony, was yet to begin.

In an interview with journalists, National President, FAN, Mrs. Jemi Ogisi, said the group has apologized to the deputy governor over the incident.
