In a rare display of generosity, Dr Oluwakemi Pinheiro (SAN), the newly appointed chairman of the governing council of Kaduna State Polytechnic (KADPOLY), has pledged to donate his lifetime salary to support vulnerable students at the institution.
Pinheiro expressed this commitment in a letter addressed to the Rector of the polytechnic, Suleiman Umar. He said the salary from his position as council chairman will be used to assist indigent students at the polytechnic who need financial aid.
Pinheiro, who also serves as a prosecutor for the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), clarified that he will not accept any sitting or other allowances during his tenure in the polytechnic’s governing council. To ensure transparency, Pinheiro requested that the institution provide evidence of the disbursement of the funds to his office.
This is coming two weeks after the Chairman of the University of Ibadan Governing Council and former governor of Osun State, Adebisi Akande, instructed the institution to allocate allowances due to him to students studying science courses. Umar commended Pinheiro for the cause, saying the gesture will provide much-needed financial relief to many deserving students and contribute to their academic success.
