The senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Kano central, Abdulsalam AbdulKareem (popularly known as AA Zaura) has vowed that he would rather remain stronger in the face of political “detractors” bent to tarnish his hard-earned reputation.

Besides, the multi-billion naira business mogul insisted the prevailing adversities being orchestrated against him would not deter him from reaching out to those at the grassroots.

According to him, “I would not succumb to any threat or intimidation from any quarters to stop me from reaching out to those in the grassroots during the campaign and election period”.

Zaura, made the statement yesterday while briefing journalists in his Zaria road campaign headquarters in Kano, plans for the senatorial district during the campaign and after the election.

He said he does not feel threatened as a “newbie” in politics to be attempting to represent a district that has had two former governors as its representative at the red chamber, adding that he is “a new breed of politician.

“And when you are coming in with something new, people will love to see what you are coming with. They know what I have been doing and they are eager to see how I will do it when I get to represent them. People are eager to see Zaura in the red chamber.

“Even though I have never been in government, most of the things I will be doing when elected are things I have been doing with my personal resources. They are things that doing them gives me pleasure and joy and brings me closer to the people with the only new thing being making laws on behalf of our people and I am confident,” he said.

“We have touched the lives of the people and we know the problem of the people. Nothing can deter me, nothing will scare me to be with my people, to touch the lives of my people. No amount of threat or pressure will separate me from the grassroots and the masses,” he added.

He said the scholarship he promised the students 10,000 students in the state would be rolled out in the next few days while assuring victory not only for him but for APC across all elective positions.
