Kano gov’s spokesperson, Dawakin-Tofa, loses 15-yr-old son


Director-General Media and Publicity, Kano Government house, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa has lost his child, Sadiq Modibbo Bature, after clinical surgery in India.

Sadiq, 15 years old, was confirmed dead on Thursday morning a few days after a successful bone marrow transplant at the India hospital.

The young chap had suffered the excruciating pains from sickle cell anaemia from birth until he finally succumbed to the final call.

Announcing the sad incident on his social media page, the official spokesperson to Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, disclosed that his first child died from post-surgery complications in the brain.

He said, “This morning, I lost my first child Sadiq (Modibbo) Bature at age of 15. He lived as a good, brilliant and obedient child.

“Throughout his life, Modibbo has suffered from sickle cell anaemia which he underwent a successful bone marrow transplant this month in an Indian hospital. Unfortunately, he died as a result of post-surgery complications in his brain.

“The body of our beloved Saddiku would be brought back home in a few days for burial, in accordance with Islamic rites, in my hometown, Dawakin-Tofa. Date and time would be announced on arrival of his remains,” the message read.

Meanwhile, the sad demise of young Sadiq continued to attract condolences from friends, political and professional associates of the governor’s spokesperson, who prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

He is expected for burial according to Islamic rites at Dawakin Tofa town in the coming weekend.
