Kano residents express interest in Dangote out-grower rice as trade fair opens

Kano State residents have shown interest in the Dangote Rice Out-grower scheme. They and are visiting Dangote pavillion at the Kano International Trade Fair which commenced on the 21st November, for opportunity to key into the project.

Thousands of hectares of land have been cultivated for the Africa giant company’s outgrower scheme of Aliko Dangote with numerous benefits of enriching farmers and giving them succor as they battle the hard times.

The farmers grow the rice on their own land, and are provided with inputs and technical assistance to improve their productivity and earnings while guaranteeing the purchase of their crop at the same time.

Numerous jobs have been created for the farming communities through the scheme to reduce youth restiveness while boosting the local economy and transforming agric business in line with the present administration’s policy.

This 38th, Kano International Trade Fair, hinges its objectives on the same consideration hence, its theme, “Reinvigoration of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises: A key for effective Development of Nigerian Economy.

The Kano State Governor Dr. Umar Ganduje, while declaring the trade fair open said these have proved to be key drivers of the Nigeria economy and expressed hope that they would provide more solutions to the overdependence on the oil sector.

Represented by the Deputy Governor of the state, Prof. Hafis Abubakar, Ganduje said the private sector has critical role to play in reviving Nigeria economy as governments face different challenges ranging from corruption, smuggling, insecurity, revenue generation, forex, issues etc.

President of Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar, while speaking said reinvigorating the economy means creating more jobs, increasing capacity building and corporate coordination and organization of various enterprises to achieve economic growth.

He said the task is heculian and requires synergy, patriotism, high level of scarifice and total commitment to responsibilities.
“Governments at all levels, Non-Governmental Organisations, organised private sectors, civil society Organisations, individual business/ tradesmen alike are stakeholders in the crusade”, the Chambers president stated.

The director Business and Membership, KACCIMA, Attahiru Gwarzo reiterated that about 11 countries are participating in the fair, with 500 participants from across the country. He said the fair provides opportunity for enhanced business relationship with stakeholders.
