
Alhaji Murtala Garo, chairman of the committee and Commissioner for Local Government Affairs disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Kano yesterday.
He said part of the money was also used for the purchase of drugs used for the treatment of the animals as well as ensuring their security.
“The committee has so far received 3,366 cows, 396 sheep, 11 camels, seven donkeys and four dogs recovered from rustlers,” he said.
Garo explained that the committee had so far returned 2,620 cows to their rightful owners out of the 3,366 cows recovered from the rustlers in the state.
According to him, the committee had also returned 199 sheep, three donkeys and two dogs out of the 396 sheep, seven donkeys and four dogs recovered from the hoodlums.
“The committee has so far verified 816 persons out of whom 189 persons have since collected their animals,” he said.
The committee chairman commended the state government for providing the money used for the upkeep of animals.
