Kano to strengthen relations with China, France

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Chinese and French authorities, as part of broader efforts to attract economic opportunities and development to Kano State.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the governor made the commitment during an unscheduled visit to two prominent Chinese and French bilingual colleges located in Kwankwaso town, Madobi Local Council Area.

The two foreign language colleges were established during the second tenure of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso as governor, with the vision of nurturing home-grown linguists, proficient in French and Mandarin.

However, the initiative suffered setbacks after it was abandoned by the immediate past administration of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

According to the statement, Yusuf expressed deep dissatisfaction with the deteriorated condition of the facilities, attributing it to prolonged neglect and lack of proper maintenance.

The governor issued a directive to the relevant ministries to commence full renovation and comprehensive overhaul of the colleges to ensure safety, security, and a conducive learning environment.

In a bid to further encourage excellence and international exposure, Yusuf also pledged state-sponsored scholarships for the best graduating students of both colleges to pursue further studies in China and France.
